“The Love of God” by, Bill Bishop
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God demonstrated his love by his actions.
How are showing that we love God?
What are things we do, that show that we love God?
We all have probably come to realize that we don’t really love God the way we might say we do when we look more closely at our lives.
1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
-------------------------------------------------
God’s love should be demonstrated thru our everyday lives, by the way we work,-diligently as unto God, or just enough to get by.
God’s love should be demonstrated thru our everyday lives, by the way we deal with our family,-longsuffering and kind, or short tempered and brutal.
We should even drive differently, courteously, and lawfully.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
-------------------------------------------------
Ephesians 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
God’s love is rich, and real, and easily visible to the world by Jesus Christ.
1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.
Again, do we really love him? How are we showing that we do?
If we reject Jesus Christ as Savior we reject God’s love.
--------------------------------------------------
Are we walking in love or the flesh?
Ephesians 5:1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
Ephesians 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
Ephesians 5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
Ephesians 5:4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
Ephesians 5:5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
Ephesians 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
1 John 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
propitiation
PROPITIATION, n. propisia'shon.
1. The act of appeasing wrath and conciliating the favor of an offended person; the act of making propitious.
2. In theology, the atonement or atoning sacrifice offered to God to assuage his wrath and render him propitious to sinners. Christ is the propitiation for the sins of men. Rom.3. 1 John 2.
Are we in God’s love or in his wrath?
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
----------------------------------------------------
1 John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
Christ showed us his great love by his sacrifice.
He shed his blood that we might be forgiven.
----------------------------------------------------
God knows them that love him! Do we really love God?
1 Corinthians 8:3 But if any man love God, the same is known of him.
Or do we love the world?
1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Do we spend more money on dog food, or cable television than we do on missions?
Do we have so much debt for frivolous junk that we can’t even tithe?
Colossians 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
---------------------------------------------------------
John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
Do we even have a bible, the word of God, which we read?
Or is it a “bible of the month”, ever changing and always in need of correction, “updating”, like computer software.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Have we ever read the bible with our family?
1 John 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
John 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
John 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
------------------------------------------------------
Luke 11:42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Doing a few good things in God’s name, for show, holds no merit with God.
John 5:42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
-----------------------------------------------------------
If Christ is our Savior we have God’s love in us!
Romans 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Let’s show it to this lost world!
1 John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
1 John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
1 John 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Genesis 39:9 There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
John 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
